What Is a Podcast?

Definition:

Podcasting, a portmanteau of Apple's "iPod" and "broadcasting", is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription, usually at no cost. It first became popular in late 2004, used largely for audio files.

In practical terms, a Podcast is a broadcast of content over the internet (that may be Audio, Video or PDF content) that you can subscribe to using a free program like iTunes. So if you subscribe to the New Community Church podcast, it is automatically downloaded to your Podcast reader (iTunes) and is waiting for you when you want to listen to it.

How do I subscribe?

I'm glad you asked! If you are using iTunes, simply click on the "Subscribe" button to the right. This will require iTunes, so if you dont currently have it installed, download it now. If you do have iTunes installed, it will launch and take you to the New Community Church podcast page (pictured below). Simply click on the "Subscribe" button there and you are all set.

Not using iTunes?

We know that not everyone uses iTunes, the normal RSS feed for subscribing to the podcast is here. For instructions on how to subscribe using your non-iTunes client, check with the documentation that came with the program.
